Kusudama Dodecahedron by FUSE Tomoko. From Rittai o tsukurou (Let's Make Solid Figures).

Dodecahedron from 30 units. Folded from 30 6.9cm squares.

I've always liked the photo in Rittai o tsukurou (Let's Make Solid Figures) but never made it since it didn't say how many units were needed. After folding all three versions of Wood Sorrel Decorative Ball (click here for Version 1), I knew it takes 30 units to make a dodecahedron such as this, so I decided to try it.

The folding wasn't a problem, but BOY was it hard to assemble!!! I'm sure that's because of folding inaccuracies, at least in part, but right now I don't think I'm making this one again... Even when I took the photo, I wasn't really happy with the way my model turned out (or rather kept together)...
